The Sunday Times: Best 100 Companies to Work For 2008

TT100_2008small.jpg Impact has secured 17th position in the prestigious Sunday Times ‘Best 100 Companies to Work For 2008’ – a significant leap from last year’s position of 59th. We were also listed Number One Small Employer in the Northwest region. The award recognises our ‘extraordinary’ workplace engagement practices, including exceptional motivation, inspiration and staff retention levels, as well as a 15 per cent growth in Impact’s global workforce within just one year.

Impact was also runner-up in the ‘Best for Giving Something Back Award’ for enhanced social responsibility – congratulations to Innocent Drinks who were the overall winner. The award is based on feedback from the company’s own workforce on how much it is putting back into society in general and the local community in particular. It recognises Impact's pioneering work in creating sustainable models of business which allow enterprises to enhance their business performance while accelerating positive social change, and protecting and preserving environmental integrity.

At Impact, we are fully committed to our people and a high level of social responsibility. Moving up 42 places in just one year is a great testament to our fantastic company culture of enthusiasm and passion for developing people and changing lives – something we regard as highly as specific skills and qualifications. We want to do as much as we can to help our employees discover and develop their talents as we want them to stay with us for many years. Being ranked so highly by The Sunday Times has given all our employees, from the executives through to new recruits, a huge sense of pride, satisfaction and fulfilment.”
Andy Dickson, Head of Impact UK

Impact’s new induction process plays a key part in its commitment to employees. It sees every single new recruit, wherever they are going to be based around the world, visit the company’s UK headquarters to experience a full induction into all aspects of the business. This allows the trainees to familiarise themselves with the origins and essence of the company, as well as gain an understanding of what makes it different. They are also able to meet key people from all departments and learn fundamental corporate methodologies early on in their Impact careers. This induction has enabled new recruits to take back a wealth of Impact knowledge and contacts to their country offices. It has also allowed them to build international relationships and share global working practices.
