Job title
Staffing Manager

Last book you read?
“Wondrous Cold: An Antarctic Journey” by Joan Myers

Your heroes include...?
Nelson Mandela, Yvon Chouinard and Ellen McArthur

Favourite line from a film?
Hardly ever watch them so wouldn’t know

Who makes you laugh?
Children, but my nieces call me Uncle Grumps!

Last journey you took?
A 4 day donkey trek in the Auvergne, France with my family and friends. Brilliant

What’s on your desk?
Computer, my staffing folder (my bible!),  photos of my daughter, Patagonia catalogue, mug of earl grey tea, banana...

Favourite place?
Lots. Esalen in California where I met my partner, Dominique. Antarctica (I was lucky enough that Impact gave me time off to go there), dinghy cruising off Scotland’s west coast.  Wherever I’ve been though, I’m always glad to get back to the Lakes. Once you get away from the crowds, which is easy, it’s incredibly beautiful. If I had to pick one place it would be  Loughrigg Tarn

3 people you’d have dinner with (dead or alive)?
I would have liked to meet my great grandfather, who lived in the same town as I live now and wrote various natural history books about the Lake District
