Objective

To create an inspiring learning experience for some of the top junior managers from JPMorgan’s Finance and Business Management Asia team - to challenge their current perception of leadership and management at the same time as enhancing and embedding inspirational leadership capabilities.

Solution

Working in close partnership with senior management at JPMorgan, Impact created an engaging and challenging leadership development event ‘Delivering the Future’ held in Thailand that focused individuals on their ability to motivate, inspire, drive proactive change and deliver results.

The two-day event included a series of experiential projects, theoretical inputs and facilitated review discussions designed to develop individual’s leadership skills. The MBTI® understanding self and others personality types, was used to explore effective leadership, peer networking and sharing of best practice. A real team based business project with measurable performance results was incorporated and an opportunity for individual feedback on strengths and weaknesses, personal action planning and individual leadership commitments.

A carefully designed community-based project was an important part of the event as it bought to life JPMorgan’s commitment to corporate social responsibility as well as providing a creative platform for leadership development. The team from JPMorgan worked with the Tab Tawan Community in Khao Lak, Thailand who were still recovering from the Tsunami. The team had responsibility and ownership to transform a garden space and help build a shop that will provide real life learning and generate some income for the children and the community.

The projects were challenging and significant, and everyone needed to work together effectively, leveraging their own leadership skills to solve very real challenges and to complete the projects to a high standard.

Result

The event blended inspirational leadership development with real community needs. The JPMorgan team and the Tab Tawan community have been inspired by seeing the results of their hard work and commitment, and felt proud of the sustainable contribution they had made to their community.

"I am highly delighted with the results of the programme, and the quality of the Impact team. The delegates found the event to be extremely rewarding and useful in their on-going development as future leaders of our company. In particular they were inspired by the community action project, and I hope we can keep up our association with the villagers of Khao Lak as they continue their long rehabilitation from the devastating effects of the Tsunami."
