David Williams has been recognised by the Institute Of Directors, winning the Cumbria Director of the Year award for 2007.

The IoD North West Director of the Year Awards recognise the outstanding work that directors are doing in the region. This year saw almost 200 nominations making the judge's task all the more difficult.

David was delighted to be awarded with the prestigious title of ‘Cumbria Director of the Year’ by the IoD. The award recognises the people who use their expertise and experience to make the critical decisions that determine the strategy, operation and performance of their businesses. They are the people who put all of their energy and passion into making their business the best it can possibly be.

IoD North West Regional Chairman, and Judges Chairman for the 2007 Director of the Year Awards, Ann Jordan, said: “The competition in the Cumbrian category for the IoD Director of the Year Awards was very strong this year and the judges were particularly impressed with the range and calibre of the finalists.  David has played an integral role in implementing the impressive business strategy set out by Impact Development Training Group.  Through David’s leadership, he has led the team to be widely recognised for an incredible CSR policy and its investment in people. As a worthy successor to last year’s Cumbrian winner, Andrew Tinkler, David, along with his fellow finalists, will certainly set an excellent example as a positive role model for both Cumbria and business people as a whole.”

Impact has had a fantastic year so far, being named as a Sunday Times Top 100 company for the third year running, a Great Place to Work by the Financial Times who also awarded Impact with the ‘Learning for Leadership and Sustainability Award’, a BITC Big Tick Winner in the npower business Impact on Society Award for Small Companies and the North West winner of the National Business Award for CSR.

"I was honoured to be awarded with the title of Cumbria Director of the Year by the IoD, especially with such tough local competition from the Directors of English Lakes Hotels and Lucy's of Ambleside Ltd.   We are very proud to have founded Impact in the English Lake District which has proven to be a hub for business creation and passionate leaders.
