Impact attend Gordon Brown's Business Call to Action



David Williams, Impact's Founder and CEO was invited to join the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown at the Business Call to Action event in London. The meeting brought together 80 CEOs to discuss new business initiatives to reduce poverty in the developing world.


The Business Call to Action event took place in London on 6 May 2008.

Gordon Brown was joined by 80 CEOs from some of the world's largest companies along with UK Ministers, Ambassadors and Presidents from Ghana and Rwanda. David Williams was delighted Impact was represented alongside companies including Citi, Diageo, Coca-Cola and Microsoft.

The Business Call to Action is the focal point for mobilising the expertise and efforts of big business to support growth in developing countries and contribute to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The morning event included opportunities for businesses to share best practice and highlight concrete initiatives they have introduced to support economic growth and reduce poverty in developing countries. The aim of the event was to share best practice and inspire one another to take action.

Impact are signatories of the UN Global Compact. David Williams has previously attended a meeting of signatories that looked at the business contribution to the UN’s Millennium Development Goals. To read more about our commitment and actions - click here.
