Ethics Statement
Background
In 2007, Impact made a strong commitment to the purpose of “creating sustainable enterprise” and sought to embody best practice itself. This commitment raised questions about whether and how we should work with our clients with connections to controversial industries. After internal consultation and dialogue, the following statement represents our common position:Our beliefs
• We believe that positive change occurs when organisations improve the quality of relationships between people, and between organisations and their stakeholders. Impact’s methodologies and services help improve these relationships, and hence build momentum for positive change.• We believe that in a highly interconnected world it is difficult to make moral judgements on the relative merits of different organisations. Impact’s role is not to judge, but to facilitate positive change.
Our commitments
• Impact will work with any organisation to whom we can make a valuable contribution.• Impact seeks constant improvement in the value it provides to clients, to its own people, to society and to the environment.
• Impact will only provide services where the goals are explicit, and we can deliver them with professional integrity. We will not deliver services that have a hidden agenda, unknown to participants or stakeholders.
• Impact people are free to elect not to work on any particular contract where they feel their personal values would be compromised.
• Impact will always operate within the law.
