Impact International

Action Learning

How this methodology works

Action Learning is based around business projects which are initiated during a formal session on your Impact programme. Projects may be determined by key stakeholders and offered as a ‘menu’ to delegates, or may be determined by delegates as part of the intervention. These projects can be undertaken within development groups or different action learning sets.

Key to this process is ensuring that the right project is selected, enabling participants to implement learning and achieve personal objectives. Ownership for the project is given to the delegates but supported by management. Carefully facilitated reviews are conducted to capture learning.

Measuring success

A successfully executed business project will deliver tangible benefits back to your organisation.

Benefits of using this methodology

Through Action Learning, groups develop a thorough understanding of each other’s strengths, weaknesses, motivations and needs.  They will be encouraged to support each other in the setting and achievement of objectives and will become increasingly self-managed during the programme and throughout the execution of the business projects.

Skills and behaviours involved during development group meetings include listening and questioning, testing understanding, giving and receiving feedback and challenging one another.
