Via Ferrata

Our 2009 European event is a Via Ferrata Challenge. A via ferrata is a mountain route equipped with fixed ladders, cables and bridges. These are used to allow access to otherwise isolated routes and are graded by difficulty to be used by people with a wide range of abilities. 

Our Challenge will allow you to sample the enjoyment of the mountains without the risks associated with unprotected scrambling and climbing. No previous experience is required to take part in and enjoy the Impact Challenge as full training and guiding will be provided.

Guides

Philip Poole is Impact’s International Safety Advisor. He has been climbing, canoeing, caving and skiing for over 30 years and has instructional qualifications in all those disciplines.

Simon Abrahams has been climbing and mountaineering in the UK and around the world for the last 25 years and has worked full time in the mountains since 1987.

Both Phil and Simon are IFMGA Mountain Guides, this is the highest internationally recognised qualification for instruction and guiding in the disciplines of rock and ice climbing, mountaineering and skiing.
No experience required!

You don't need any previous experience as all tuition and guiding for the Via Ferratas will be provided. A reasonable level of personal fitness will make life easier for you on the trip as there will be some long days out on the mountains.

Monday 6 July:  Travel to location
Tuesday 7 July:  Introduction to Via Ferrata
Wednesday 8 July:  Via Ferrata
Thursday 9 July:  Via Ferrata Challenge - culmination of your training and experience on a challenging journey
Friday 10 July:  Depart and return home

Cost

Impact co-ordinate all accommodation, catering and kit hire. We ask you to cover the cost price of this at time of booking. Impact provide all the expert guiding and co-ordination for the Challenge event for free.
We ask you to book your personal flights, transfers and personal insurance.
