1985 - Hotels and Expansion

cragwood.jpg In 1985 Impact purchased a private house on the edge of Lake Windermere.  The deposit used to secure Cragwood House was made up of all the money Impact had saved so far from the company profits and a hastily arranged mortgage with the bank. Within a few months, working at night and weekends and with the help of friends and family, the four bedroom house was transformed into a 12 bedroom hotel.

It was from here that David Williams and Paul Broom, with a team of 6 facilitators established Impact’s first residential base, thus saving massive costs for the company.  Of the 8 members of the Impact team who moved to Cragwood House in 1985, 5 are still with the organisation.

The company has purchased two further hotels as demand exceeded supply. Impact now own Cragwood, Merewood and Briery Wood Country House Hotels.

Impact also has the following sister companies:
- Eclipse: an events management company specialising in Total Event Management
- Zinco: the graphic design company responsible for all our literature and website
- Westmorland Linen Services: a laundry servicing many hotels local to our head office.
- Cragwood Construction: a team of builders and gardeners.
